Traverzine
began in 2019 as an experimental literary form to consider issues related to travel. Environmental concerns combined with questions regarding divergent perceptions of travel for work, leisure and migration inform the zine’s underlying concept. Each edition presents its reader with an opportunity to take time out from the everyday and travel with a well-considered thought.
A few readers’ comments:
“it gave me 5 mins of calm amongst all the chaos”
“so much to think about … so many emotional shifts”
“beautiful, as physical object, environmentally and content, such a great way to get work out”
Issues explored to date include: solidarity at distance (Voicing concerns, Anna Maria Civico), the forest as a place of contemplative transition (Evolving awareness, Bob Farrer) and navigating loss (Loving, Gianfilippo Pedote).
Since Traverzine’s launch, the pandemic has led to unprecedented travel restrictions. Now, more than ever, we need ways of reframing travel given all the time spent in lockdown and to make use of this chance to reassess expectations for the future.
